Care Team

The Care Team is made up of lay persons and the Minister of Congregational Care who are dedicated to tending to the needs of the members of the church.  In prayer, both joys and concerns are raised during the weekly Wednesday morning meetings.  The Care Team has been meeting faithfully for eighteen years to serve God in the church through works of compassion and love.

Here is a sampling of ways that the Care Team carries out its ministry.

  1. Greeting cards of sympathy, encouragement, and congratulations are mailed out every week.

  2. Birthday cards to members eighty years and older are also sent each week.

  3. Rose buds are provided on Sunday mornings to celebrate recent births among members.

  4. Visits are made to those individuals who are home-bound or hospitalized.  Opportunities to visit these individuals or to send encouragement cards are available to the whole congregation each month as well.

  5. The Care Team sends requests (when needed) to the Meal Ministry Team to provide meals to individuals returning home after hospitalization.

  6. The Care Team distributes handmade shawls from the Shawl Ministry Team to individuals who are seriously ill.

Here’s how you can help.  If there are members who need assistance in any way, please call the church office (344-0343) or place the information in the “Prayer/Care Team” mailbox in the church office.  If you are a member in need of special assistance, or you know of someone in the hospital needing pastoral care, please let us know. We will do our best, with God’s help, to respond quickly.

Finally, if you are interested in joining the Care Team in its ministry of encouragement, prayer, visitations, and service, please call the Care Team Coordinators:  Patti Damico    (337-4213) or Ki Addison (505-1457). The Care Team meets every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the Library of University United Methodist Church.
