DUTIES OF THE TRUSTEES 

Property

Supervision

  • Annual tour by Trustees of all facilities
  • Updated Appraisal of Property
  •  Database of property church has
    •  Video evidence
  • Assure the proper use of the facilities
    • Building use policies

Oversight

  • Determination of needs of Church and how property meets those needs
  • Whether the Funds are properly being used to maintain and improve assets
  • Determination of future needs and priority of those needs for improvement

Care

 

  •  Maintenance
  •  Cost of maintenance properly utilized
  •  Policy for approval of funds for upkeep and improvement of property
    • Threshold funding requirements w/o Trustee approval
    •  Emergency policies and procedures
  • Policies and procedures for any contractual work to Church property

 

Insurance

  • Type of policies needed
  • Determination of sufficiency of coverage amounts
  • To develop appropriate risk management policies

 

Bequests, Trusts and Trust Funds

  • To receive and administer all gifts made to the congregation
  • Proper investment of Funds
  • Accounting of all funds
  • Preservation of donors wishes
    • Form to determine how funds are handled if wishes unsustainable
  • Determination as to how funds are utilized and set aside for buffer uses

Reporting

  • To annually report to the charge conference on the state of the church’s property, equipment, investments and resources

 

Articles of Incorporation

  • To ensure the Church articles are kept up-to-date

 

Budget

  • Submit to the finance committee annual budget requests for insurance, property maintenance and improvement, and new property purchases
